ОписаниеThis elongated red synthetic leather case safeguards an important parchment scroll, a warrant which was provided to Sir Samuel Cohen Sir Algar Henry Stafford Howard granting him the coat of arms which can be used by him and his descendants. The lid bears three royal monograms in gold of the King George VI (1895 to 1952) who reigned 1936 to 1952. He was father to current Queen.
The scroll inside has three of his large red wax seals attached to the bottom by blue ribbon. The design of the seal is depicted in the upper left corner.
The warrant scroll is accompanied by an original artwork on the armorial bearings of Sir Samuel Sydney Cohen. Sir Samuel Cohen was an accomplished businessman and he was active in a number of charities, both Jewish and non-Jewish causes. He was knighted in the Queen’s coronation honours in 1937. The warrant is a historically signifficant document recording a high recognitioin of a member of the Jewish community in Australia at the outbreak of the WW2.
Sir Samuel Cohen was grandfather of the donor.
