НазваниеJohn Gruschka Interview
ОписаниеThis is an interview with Holocaust Survivor John Gruschka. John grew up in Czechoslovakia and in 1939 at the age of 15 was sent to live with distant relative in Manchester. It was conducted as part of a project to video survivors talking about objects they donated but as John had never recorded his story, it was decided to film his testimony in its entirety. The interview was conducted by Rosie Bloch and filmed by Kate Disher-Quill over two days 13 and 15 March 2013.
John speaks very well about his family’s decision to leave, getting contact with the Meeks (the people who took him in) and departing to Manchester. In the second part John reads a few of the letters between him and his family still in Europe. He speaks about moving to Israel in 1948 and life there. The family moved to Maitland in 1958 and he recounts what life was like there.
See notes for more information.
