НазваниеLeather belt worn by Eddie Jaku
ОписаниеLeather belt with metal buckle worn by Eddie Jaku, Holocaust Survivor, through several concentration camps. The belt was with him from the time of his arrest in 1938 and incarceration in Buchenwald; it followed him to Exarde (in Belgium), Gurs (in France) and to Auschwitz in German occupied Poland – the only luxury that he was able to keep on him. Eddie bought this belt in Leipzig, Germany, c1936/37, when he was around 18 years old.
“The belt kept up my trousers. I had to make some more holes because every few months I got smaller and skinnier. I couldn’t part with it for quite a while. It was my only possession from five camps that I have been. My suffering and everything, that belt knows it."
