ОписаниеPhotograph (reproduction) taken outside Wysocki Man’s Tailor (Schneider) Shop in Radziejow Ghetto depicting a group of more than 30 Jewish men and women. There a few notable facets to the image: They are all wearing a Star of David attached to their clothing (the Star is not the star of Polish occupied territories but could be the Star imposed by the local rulers during the early stages of the occupation); there is a clear separation of male and female (women on the left, men on the right) and the men have their heads covered, meaning this is an Orthodox community.
Radziejow is an area of Poland that became part of Germany in 1939. The town's Jewish population was confined in a ghetto which existed from 1941 until 1942, with about 800 inmates. The ghetto was liquidated in 1942 when its population was transported to Chelmno extermination camp in April 1942.
