НазваниеSeder Plate
ОписаниеHand made pewter Seder plate of German origin. Traditional Hebrew texts related to the Passover on rim. Face of plate depicts an interior scene of five learned men at a table. Reverse of plate shows three hallmarks of angels holding scales with letters of 'Fein Z..n' meaning Fine Metal in German. On either side of the angel are the initials IAS - presumably the makers mark.
It belonged to the Hirschmann family who had lived for more than 500 years in Germany until the Nazis came into power, upon which all their properties and businesses were confiscated. The Seder plate accompanied the family to America.
It has been donated in memory of Iwan 'Harry' Hirschmann, donated by the Leshetz, Briner and Markman families.
