ОписаниеTelegram, featuring an image of the Swedish flag, sent to Brudparet Sonnabend (the Sonnabend wedding couple), Warendorfsgatan 3 Stockholm, Sweden, on the day of their wedding, 28 April 1946. It was sent by Eivor Bastman, the administrator of the Displaced Persons Camp [Rydsbrunn ?] where they were living at the time of their wedding. It contains a Swedish recipe for a good marriage translated as: One spoon of love and two teaspoons of argument is to be taken often and mixed well.
Mala's first husband Gedalia Rekant and their daughter Miriam were murdered by the Germans.
Isi Sonnabend and Mala Rekant met in the Bialystock Ghetto. They were separated when the ghetto was liquidated then briefly reunited in Auschwitz. They were separated again when Auschwitz was evacuated by the Nazis then miraculously reunited in Sweden after the war. They married at Mosaiska Synagogue in Stockholm, Sweden. There were 8 people at the wedding. They later immigrated to Australia.
