ОписаниеHandwritten letter in Polish on graph paper, dated 1985. To Mr. & Mrs. Kriegel from Julian and Marianna Kacznscy. They write, "Although we both reached over 90, we are still both well and we wish you the same." They thank them for the letter and the money and write about a murderous act committed by a Christian who shot five people in the head. They write about the authorities who kidnap priests and murder them, disposing of the bodies in the Wysta River. "That’s how the most recent priest, Jeizy Popieluszko, was murdered." They go on to talk about the severe winter, -28 to -30 degrees Celsius and the financial situation in Poland.
The Kaczynscy family saved the Krieger family during the war, even though they gained materially by saving them. After the war, in gratitude, the Krieger family sent regular parcels and money to the Kaczynscy's from Australia. The Kaczynscy's hoped for recognition from Yad Vashem but they never received it. They died in 1986.

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Kriegel
Although we both reached over 90, we are still both well and we wish you the same.
We received your letter and the money for which we thank you from the heart.
My god, always when we receive the present from you I say to my wife that had the bandits (thugs) not shot the two families, then they too would not have thrown stones at us now.
This murderous act was committed by a Christian. He shot in the head two children. David Kopytowski’s 11 year old son, second child three weeks old. Parents of the baby Benjamin Fredmuter and Itka Szkto. Five people murdered.
Whoever asked me for help I wanted to help survive, but the thugs always shot them.
Now our authorities kidnap priests, but they don’t shoot them, only murder them alive. The corpse they put in a bag, weighed down with stones and thow it in the Wysta! That’s how the most recent priest, Jeizy Popieluszko, was murdered. Eleven days he was lying in the river Wysta. The news about this priest reached America, France, Belgium and Italy.
This year we have a severe winter, -28 to -30 degrees Celsius. When the weather improves I will go to Warsaw to the Israel Embassy and will ask for a recognition. I have the address of Mrs. Segal (my sister Rywka who lived in Israel). I will ask her to help me get the recognition from the government of Israel.
In our Poland the situation is getting worse. The government is indebted overseas and doesn’t have the money to repay. All the coal they have is already exported.
From the first of March, whatever cost 100 ztoty will cost 200-300 zt.
Again, thanks for the present.
From all in my family, we wish you health and all the best.
Julian and Marianna Kacznscy
