НазваниеTrauer Album
ОписаниеYahrzeit book-calendar with the title 'Trauer-Album' and a drawing of a tombstone and tree imprinted onto the cover in silver. It is in German, printed in Austria, starting in 1912 with yarzheit dates, finishing in 1961, containing prayers and rituals to be performed on the anniversary of the death of Rosali Hartmann, who died 19 November 1911 at the age of 77.
The Trauer Album belonged to her daughter, Frieda Pikarski, who died in Shanghai in 1942. It then passed on to her husband Vernon Bill Parker, who died in Australia, 1995 and the book was then donated by a friend of Bill Parker, Renia Kacen.
Yahrzheit is a Yiddish word meaning anniversary of a death. It is the yearly anniversary of a loved one’s death (traditionally the anniversary of the Hebrew date, not the Gregorian date). Jews observe yahrzeit at home by lighting a special long-burning candle in memory of the deceased.
