"Purim has always been my favourite Chag of all with people getting dressed up as heroes from the bible, renowned celebrities and in all manner of flamboyant outfits. I have a childhood memory of being dressed up as an Arab dancing girl for a festive Purim party held at our Country Club in Alexandria. Folds of red voile with a scattering of gold sequins engulfed me as I trembled with excitement and anticipation. Large gold hoops adorned my ears, and my mother gently covered my six-year-old lips with a generous coating of her bright red lipstick. Decades later that Purim party as I remember it became my inspiration for this contemporary Purim painting." Camille Fox, 2022
