The 1979 Iranian revolution has been described as the most popular revolution of the 20th century. Many of Iran's minority communities participated in it, including Iranian Jews, long before it turned "Islamic". After the revolution, Iranian Jews had more to fear than other communities. There were mass trials and speedy executions. One of the victims was Hajj Habib Elghanian, a former leader of the Jewish community, a well-known philanthropist. His execution shocked he Jewish community
