Deals with the sensitive issue of the restitution of Jewish property looted during World War II, in the immediate post-war years in Italy. Shows that there was no system for automatic return of assets, and that the reconstruction policies, which included a covering-up of the local role played in the antisemitic past and persecutions, put enormous obstacles on the road to restitution
