Discusses the extent to which antisemitism persisted in German society after the defeat of the Nazi regime. Examines German attitudes towards Jewish Holocaust survivors who lived as DPs in postwar Germany. Interactions were influenced by stereotypes and prejudices. When the American military government extended a protective hand over the DPs, some Germans took this as a validation of their suspicion that the Allies had been in the hands of the Jews. Resentment intensified as a result of American support of Jewish reparations claims
