In WAR ZONE the earth is depicted as relatively small and precarious. It is a world of arrogance, of self-centred personae surrounded by the fractured glass of Kristallnacht. The entire sculpture is enveloped in a sinister texture and tone and is an allegory for the hideous combination of Nazi persection and general world indifference. I acknowledge the sickening reality of a civilization that permits such horrors to exist and I weep."
