BeschrijvingA hand-coloured map titled "A New Map of the Land of Canaan and Parts adjoining Shewing the Division thereof among the twelve Tribes of Israel. Dedicated to His Highness William Duke of Glocester." A mother and child mermaid hang of the title cartouche below a Royal Coat of Arms. Cities on the map are depicted as Kingley Cities, Levitical Cities or Cities of Refuge. Mountains, rivers, valleys and wilderness areas are also shown. An inset map of the Kingdom of Zobah is also included. The map was created by Edward Wells and engraved by Sutton Nicholls, that company name appears in the lower right hand corner. The number 34 appears in the upper right hand corner and below the title. A version of this map was originally published in a book called, "A New Sett of Maps", c. 1700, by Wells.
