The author, a psychiatrist, reflects upon his own experiences as a child during the Holocaust. During this period he was hidden by another family and then reunited with his parents after the war. He also discusses the changing attitudes to the study of the mental health of Holocaust survivors and points out the different perspectives of child versus adult survivors.
