Memorial books as a source for research into the history of Jewish communities in Europe

Ever since the war years European Jews saw the commemoration of the past as a task of great importance. This role which had been performed by various scholars, was an enterprise in which thousands participated. As a result approximately 400 memorial books for different European communities were published between 1945 and 1972
