'Jewish case' in Nuremberg: attempting to prosecute the Holocaust

Official documentation of the Axis power's war crimes had begun immediately after the start of the war. War crimes commissions were created to collect evidence of German war crimes and examine the associated legal questions. Nine European countries agreed that those responsible for the war crimes should be subjected to prosecution and punishment. On the 7th October 1942 the UN Committee for the Investigation of War Crimes was established
