Beschrijving

Levi stood as a liberal in 1892. He spoke frequently in the council, usually on the conservative side. He was a committed Federalist as a member of the Victorian Federal League committee. He will always be honoured as the first Jew to be elected to the Victorian parliament sworn in with his head covered in the traditional manner. He returned to his native Liverpool after 44 years as the official bearer of an address to Queen Victoria on the occasion of her Diamond Jubilee
