Twentieth-century blood libels in the United States

The instances of blood libel accusations in the United States are much fewer in number and less serious than those occurring in Europe or the Middle East. However the legend did cross from Europe and it has contributed to the rise of anti-semitism in the United States. The blood libel became widespread in the Middle Ages, however it was increasingly employed in the 18th and 19th centuries as an effective issue by anti-semitic political parties and in economic warfare against the Jews. It was an influential instrument in Nazi propaganda. The ritual murder accusation of Kielce, Poland, 4 July 1946, was well organized, precipitated mass killings and stimulated a large exodus of Jews from Poland.
