The work of Uri Orlev meets the criteria of accurate and sensitive writing about the Holocaust. Born in 1931, Orlev along with his family was moved into the Warsaw ghetto in 1939 and later to Bergen-Belsen. At the end of the war he went to Palestine. He started writing in the 1950s and is an author of over 30 books in Hebrew. His work has been translated into 38 languages. "The man from the other side" and "The island on Bird street" have received the most attention. The particular focus in this article is on the portrayal of Polish-Jewish relations
