Beschrijving

This chapter addresses the social, economic and political life of the Jew after the unification of Germany in 1871. Prior to unification Jews had gained many rights and had begun to enter the middle classes. Unification brought even greater freedom however antisemitism limited Jewish attainments with some of the most important German institutions shunning Jews as did the upper classes.
