[nb-NO]Description[nb-NO]Non-Jewish brothers Gerben and Hendrik Bonnema were born in Workum, the Netherlands. They were both active in the Dutch Resistance helping Allied pilots to escape by hiding them. They also assisted in the hiding of Jews. This photograph shows a street sign that translates as Brothers Bonnema Street - Hendrik and Gerben Bonnema. Resistance 1939 - 1945. The street was named in honour of the Bonnema brothers. It is in Workum, Holland - the place of their birth. The sign was erected in about 2006.
