[nb-NO]Description[nb-NO]Cartoon hand-sketched invitation addressed to P/O Davis (Pilot-Officer Alfred Davis) to attend the "solemn farewell ceremony", or "Wake", in memory of Group Captain Thomas, who died on 2.4.43. The ceremony was to be held on 30 March 1943. The illustration, by J. Giles, shows a servicewoman pulling a coffin on wheels, with a mummy wrapped in "red tape". She is sweating and puffing to pull the coffin towards the crematorium in the distance. En route, a cow is eating grass and a bird sings on a sign post indicating that Townsville is "Around the Corner" in the opposite direction. The coffin is heading towards "Air Board", which is 2001 miles away.
