[nb-NO]Description[nb-NO]Certificate, in German, from the firm of "Sigmund Hofbauer, Wholesaler" in Vienna, attesting to the fact that Alfred Hofbauer worked as an apprentice in the firm from October 1, 1928 to October 1, 1930, and completed his apprenticeship there. Alfred escaped from Austria to Switzerland c. 1939, joined the French Foreign Legion 1939/1940, then the Pioneer Corps, British Army in 1943. He fought in North Africa and Italy in World War II and came to Australia in 1946.
