[nb-NO]Title[nb-NO]Children's shoes worn by Camille Fox
[nb-NO]Description[nb-NO]Pair of brown leather child's shoes with strap and buckle. This pair of shoes worn by Camille Fox at the age of 6 and worn when her and her family were expelled from Alexandria, Egypt in 1954. The family left via the south of France and into Israel before arriving in Sydney in May 1960.
Camille has childhood memories of a charmed life in Egypt, with lavish children’s birthday parties, visiting her grandfather at his textile store in Anfushi, men smoking the shisha, her grandmother sipping sweet black coffee in fine English porcelain cups and nibbling cakes in Alexandria’s finest tea rooms. As an artist, Camille has infused these memories and times into her artworks representing life for Jewish populations in Egypt.
