Kurzeniec is situated 7 km. north of Vilejka in western Belorussia and approximately 60km east of Vilna. The Jews worked mainly as artisans or small traders. Their economic situation was bad and the result was continual migration mainly to the United States. Some 10% of the local Jewish residents survived and 90% were murdered by the Germans
