On 7th August 1933 representatives of the Jewish Agency for Palestine and the 'Zionistische Vereinigung fur Deutschland' reached an agreement with the Ministry of Economics in Berlin to enable Jewish emigrants to Palestine to tranfer their property in foreign currency. This was the start of the 'Haavara' transfer
