Zuzanna Gincburg was born in 1917 in Kiev. She was a successful and appreciated poet. Her life was cut short by the Holocaust when she was 27 years old. She was murdered, but her poetry was saved by a friend, who spirited he manuscripts out of her Warsaw apartment shortly after she left it
