The focus of this chapter is research about the deliberate teaching and learning about the Holocaust that is carried out at memorial sites and museums and highlights some general themes that recur. Much of the historical research has focused on the institutions, on the content of their exhibitions and on the influence of national and political contexts on how they articulate and represent historical events. There have been many studies of how Nazi concentration camps and other sites connected to Nazi atrocities and the Holocaust have been transformed into memorial sites and museums
