In Poland, the history of the Holocaust conflicts with previously accepted versions of the Second World War. When Polish students are faced with the Holocaust past, they seem to develop further negative attitudes towards Jews. Even 20 years ago, it was unlikely that a group of Polish highschoolers would have included Jews or the Holocaust in their World War II narratives. The Communist party had removed these topics from educational materials, and in textbooks published between 1989 and 2000, the Holocaust was barely mentioned
