This is a personal memoir of a survivor, Abba Kovner, who was leader of the resistance of the Vilna Ghetto. The setting of his reminiscences is a return to the Ghetto in the wake of the German defeat. Kovner recounts how the Jewish resistance was built through initiatives whose heroism often consisted in performing the most dangerous acts under the eyes of the German guards.
