Lithuanian Jews while facing the Holocaust, found themselves in a struggle amid opposing forces: Poles, the Lithuanian local administration, the Nazis and Soviet partisans. These groups fight for dominance over the region further endangered the survival of the remnants of the Jewish community. This article discusses this issue and includes archival material not previously available during the time of Soviet rule.
