Modern anti semitism is a new version of an ancient hatred. Hatred of Jews and Judaism has been expressed ever since the Jewish people first came into contact with the Hellenistic world in the third century BC. This old Jew-hatred has taken on new forms which began to spread as an ideology and a political and social movement in the seventies and eighties of the 19th century
