This chapter focuses on two aspects of community memorial books; the yizkor books of the Holocaust, and the jubilee books of the kibbutz. Jubilee books are dedicated to living Jewish communities in Israel and celebrate the creation of communities, whereas yizkor books mourn the loss of communities. The author argues that the producers of both these types of books rely on the same patterns of passing on tradition as part of an inherited Jewish cultural framework
