The US Holocaust Memorial Museum has signed and implemented archival agreements in almost every European country. However none of the countries has had such stringent privacy laws as Hungary. These constituted the main obstacles that made access to Holocaust-related records in the Hungarian archives very difficult, and explains why the collections are not yet at the level of other East and Central European countries
