This article focuses on the period between the wars and shows the reasons behind the rise of nationalism in Eastern Europe. It shows how Eastern Europe was less able or likely to adapt to democracy than Western Europe. Jewish nationalism too was encouraged, but at the same time the rise of nationalism had a negative effect on minority groups and definitely on the Jewish communities
