Argues there was a lack of authenticity in Jewish-Christian relations in America. As earnest and sincere as the leaders were in both the Jewish and Christian worlds who established institutions and occasions for encouraging encounters between the two communities their efforts were motivated by considerations of civic courtesy than a desire to overcome the centuries of hostility between the two religious traditions.
