Identifies the Holocaust as a series of unfolding events which structures the physical and social spaces within which Jews were gathered, contained and from where they were subsequently transported to death camps. The seizure of Jewish properties and the concentration of Jews in different parts of the city reflected long-standing popular resentments as well as pragmatic considerations.
