Although this issue takes its cue from the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the camps, most contributions do not focus on questions usually associated with the liberation. The articles examine issues such who was liberated and in what sense? Does liberation mean different things to to the different groups persecuted by the Nazis? They also look at issues such as the desire for revenge amongst survivors. Most contributors touch on questions of remembrabce and dissemination to the younger genrations.
