This is the story of 2 parrallel journeys that took place 7 decades apart. In 1939 Alex and Helmut Doldschmidt in a desperate effort to evade the Holocaust set sail on the St Louis and were eventually returned to Paris, where they spent three years in various camps until their eventual murder in Auschwitz.
In 2011 Martin goldschmidt Alex's grandson described his detailed journey back to Europe and thus the story of the 2 journeys.
