Alice Herz-Sommer was born in Prague in 1903. She was a talented pianist and in 1943 was deported together with her husband and six-year-old son to Theresienstadt. In the camp music was her salvation, giving her the strength to create a happy childhood for her son. Her music inspired her fellow inmates and gave them strength in that terrible place.
