Dutch born Aronson was incarcerated in Bergen Belsen. After his release, he became a volunteer medical worker travelling to Africa to work with Schweitzer and later among the needy in Biafra, Greece and India. Throughout the 60s and 70s, he wrote letterd to his close friend Alan Mendelson, which are reprinted in this book along with insightful notes of the editors
