Hilberg expands his focus from the study of the perpetrator alone, to include victims and bystanders. He also includes rescuers and Jewish resisters, however the attention he gives to these groups is minimal. His main focus continues to be on the destruction and those responsible for it; Hitler's role is more central here than in the earlier work. Includes a chapter on mixed marriages.
