TitoloThe Tenth Man
DescrizioneThis is one of a collection of programmes of the Sydney Viennese Theatre collected by the donor’s mother and donated to the SJM. This one, of Paddy Chayefsky’s play, “The Tenth Man”, was the first play to be performed in English (ie, not in German). The Viennese Theatre, operational from 1941 to the mid-1980s, provided a cultural link to the home country and Europe to migrants/refugees. The donor’s parents, Edith and Frederick Sowey, were great supporters of the Theatre, which had been founded by Karl Bittman and Alfred Baring “as a symbol of a vibrant and optimistic cultural era” (words of the donor).
