The photograph was taken at Hitler's secret Headquarters, Wolfschanze (Wolf's Lair), in East Prussia, shortly after the assassination attempt on Hitler on 20 July 1944. This is a copy of the original photographgraph by Heinrich Hoffman and was reproduced from Hoffmann's archives, as indicated by the stamp on the reverse.
