DescrizioneCertificate of residence (in French) stating that Alfred Hofbauer had been a resident of Strasbourg, France, since 20 August 1934. Issued by the Police Department of Strasbourg, stamped and dated 2 April 1936. Alfred Hofbauer was born in 1913 in Vienna and escaped from Austria to Switzerland c. 1939, joined the French Foreign Legion 1939/1940, then the Pioneer Corps, British Army in 1943. He fought in North Africa and Italy in World War II and came to Australia in 1946.
