TitoloLeather belt worn by Jaroslav (Jerry) Rind
DescrizioneMen's dark brown leather belt given to donor, Jaroslav (Jerry) Rind, in Gleiwitz before being sent on death march. Jerry was given the belt while in the sick bay by his bunkmate Josef Roth who left the belt to Jerry on his death.
"Josef was very sick and knew he will die any moment. He told me in Yiddish, will you say Kaddish for me. He died. What was left of him was this belt. So I took his belt off. Replaced the wire around my trousers with this belt which I carried to the end. I hoped that I will get out of hospital. I will need it for myself, to keep my trousers. I kept it. I owned something!"
