TitoloMezzuzah from Chelmno
DescrizioneMezzuzah (containing both case and parchment) described upon donation as 'from Chelmno'.
The exact origins of this object remain unknown. Chelmno was home to 33 Jews pre-war and more living in Kolo, a nearby village. At Chelmno today, there are large pits filled with the belongings of those who were murdered. Experts speculate Jews could have brought mezzuzahs and other religious items with the hope of use at their new destination.
