Descrizione

The article traces the life and times of Rev. Isaac Bernstein. He served different congregations in Australia and New Zealand for short periods usually because of clashes with his congregation. These were partially a result of his difficult personality and his approach to conversion. In Melbourne he established the Caulfield Hebrew College and conducted courses for converts, later ministering at their marriage ceremonies, causing widespread concern. His conversions were not recognised by the mainstream religious leadership.
