This article traces the history of Zionism in Australia, from the mid-19th century York St Synagogue's charitable pledges to Palestinian Jews, to the establishment of Zionist societies in the early 1900s, to the schism between Anglo and European Jewry in the late 1920s, to the final near-unanimous support for Israel in the Australian Jewish community in the immediate postwar years.
